The road, more road, and Arches National Park-7/18/08

By headingsfamily

Greetings all! Today, we had a very enjoyable day. We got up at around 8, which was actually quite late for this trip (we’ve been getting up around 6 or 7 each day, I guess because we aren’t used to the time being back a few hours yet). We left our awesome hotel @ Cameron, and were yet again on the road for about 7 hours.

Going from Arizona to Utah brought a lot of different landscapes, we started with a desert-ish drive that eventually turned into the beautiful Utah countryside, with huge natural rock formations everywhere. Eventually, we made it to Arches National Park, a large area chock full of massive, well, arches. We enjoyed a 1-mile round trip hike in 101 degree, dry heat (absolutely no sarcasm) to the top of a vantage point to see the Delicate Arch.

Colin, Dad, and Myself enjoyed a hike to the Windows, a series of 3 beautiful arches.

Colin and I decided to climb up the North Arch to see a great view of the park.

Us on the North Arch...there was a huge dropoff maybe three feet from us.

We got to our hotel at 9 pm or so and didn’t have dinner until 10. However, it wasn’t all bad – we ordered from Pablo’s Pizza which was very good. Tomorrow, we’ll have a day packed full of driving as we head to Wyoming. Until later, take care!
